Our Team

Tetsuya Yokoyama - Director of Operations

The most recent addition to DS, Tetsuya is a rather unique character and we like him that way! Easy going, good natured and highly dependable is not always an easy combination to find but find we did. A recent transplant from Tokushima prefecture, he spent several years studying and working in the United States. Married and childless with a penchant for travel and great movies he's an excellent addition to our team.

Sean Brecht - Managing Director

A Tokyo based globe trotting photographer with more than 30 years experience in Japan, Sean relocated to Takamatsu in December 2016 to assume the helm at Discover Shikoku. A lifelong skateboarder(not advisable at his age), he can most often be found in the company of his cameras. In more than 20 years traversing across the city in search of interesting images it's safe to assume there aren't many streets in Tokyo he hasn't walked down.

Cara Encabo - Travel Advisor

After graduating university in her native Philippines, Cara spent several years in intensive Japanese language studies here in Takamatsu.  Her multilingual multi-cultural background, calm demeanor, and can-do anything attitude have proven indispensable for Discover Shikoku.  When not out sourcing fantastic new restaurants, Cara is likely to be found hitting the high notes at our local karaoke establishment.  Cara's not actually a Kakashi(scarecrow) but does bear some resemblance to the one above.

Keiko Tada - Art Islands Advisor

Keiko completed her university studies in Boston and spent nearly a decade working for multi-national advertising firms in Tokyo before returning home to the Setouchi area and establishing YUI, two amazing rental properties on the art island of Teshima. Queen of Teshima or just plane Keiko, call her what you will... if it's happening in the Art Islands she is either directly involved or closely connected to those who are! Her cross cultural skillset and keen business savvy are a highly valued addition to our team.

Yuka Abe - Anabuki Travel - President

President of our parent company, Anabuki Travel, Yuka-san was the driving force behind the vision to bring luxury inbound travel to the island of Shikoku and the Setouchi region. Despite her propensity for scheduling 30 hours of activities into any 24 hour day, we think she's a pretty good president.

Lauren Scharf - Nippon Discovery Consulting

Lauren Scharf works as our in-house luxury travel consultant. She has lived in Japan on and off since 1993. In late 2010, she co-founded a Japanese-American DMC (destination management company) to introduce international travelers to the authentic arts and culture of Japan. In early 2016, she became an independent consultant, developing and promoting destinations and experiences around Japan to the media, international travelers, and travel agents.  Lauren can at times be found strolling the backstreets of the Noto peninsula balancing cats on her head.
