3 Night Art Islands Tour
The perfect coda to any Japan journey, this course would see your clients arriving at Okayama station by Shinkansen where they will be greeted by a friendly and knowledgeable bilingual guide who will take them by private car to the famed Bikan district of the centuries old merchant town of Kurashiki. Here they will be pampered in the sublime elegance of Ryokan Kurashiki. An afternoon tour of the town will be followed an amazing Kaiseki dinner and some free time for an evening stroll along side the canals and quaint streets of the Bikan.
The morning will see us heading down for Uno port for the ferry ride over to Naoshima, the most famous of the Seto Inland Seas 'Art Islands'. Naoshima offer a wide variety of amazing art experiences ranging from Monet’s fascinating water lilies room in the Chichu Art Museum and the more classical lines of Benesse House, to the thought provoking installations of the Art House Project and Ando Tadao’s museum. You'll see it all including some fascinating traditional shops and coffee houses before boarding the ferry again to travel to the neighboring Art Island of Teshima. Upon arriving your guests will be taken directly to their accommodation for the night, Lemon Hotel, which itself is one of the Art House installations.
After a breakfast that cannot be beat your guests will be transported back down to the port where they will pick up their electrical assist bicycles for a day of fun in the sun, unbelievable art, and amazing food. Teshima Art Museum is considered by many to be one of the most profound art experiences in the world today. In the afternoon they will return to the port to catch the ferry to Takamatsu where they will check into Auberge Oishi, an eclectic French - Japanese Mediterranean themed ryokan. A truly relaxing seaside vista with mouthwatering French/Japanese fusion cuisine.
On their final day, depending on their itinerary we can plan a morning trip to one of Japan’s most famous gardens, the Michelin guide listed Ritsurin Koen, a tour of the Isamu Noguchi studio, or the Shikoku Mura open air architectural museum before escorting your clients back to Takamatsu airport or Takamatsu rail station.
